ANCIENT NORBA
The ancient Norba city, is closer to the new Norba. The Cyclopean polygonal walls are particularly interesting as well as the rich nature. Norba has two acropolis, located on two hills, conventionally called “ Maggiore” and “Minore”. Between these we can admire a structure called “ Castello delle acque”. Probably, this structure represents one of the first example of baths. Cisterns, wells, ambulatory, suburban passages and traces of basolato, perfectly maintained. The terrazzamenti of construction and containment are spectacular. Realized to diminish the different ground levels of the city. The access to the city, was thru four doors: the Maggiore, perfectly preserved and protected by a semicircular tower, unique for its characteristics. The porta Ninfina, the Porta Occidentale e la Porta Lignina. Being a military city, Norba had other entries called “posterle”, close to the main doors, to allow the passage of queuing military.
